In my first blog I mentioned that I had seen 18 of the 83 Best Picture films and then I never listed what those movies were. So here are the 18 I have seen. Please don't judge me when you see certain movies :)
Casablanca
My Fair Lady
The Sound of Music
Rocky
Rain Man
Driving Miss Daisy
The Silence of the Lambs
Schindler's List
Forrest Gump
Braveheart
Titanic
Gladiator
Chicago
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Million Dollar Baby
The Departed
No Country for Old Men
Slumdog Millionaire
2009- Slumdog Millionaire
This is going to sound weird but I loved this movie. I loved the love story between Jamal and Latika. I would cry every time Latika was forced to leave Jamal. During the movie I remember thinking why can't these people just leave Jamal and Latika alone. They just found each other only to have Lakita taken away from Jamal. It was also interesting to see how some of the people lived in India and what they had to do to survive. My favorite part of the movie is the ending when Jamal is waiting for Latika at the train station after winning the India version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Earlier in the film when Latika escapes from some bad guys and they meet each other at the station only to have Latika taken away but Jamal tells her that he will wait for her there every day. Anyway back to the ending. Jamal is sitting there and he looks over and there is Latika at the train station. Their eyes meet and Jamal jumps across the tracks to get to her. I just love it and I just got goosebumps thinking about that scene. If you haven't seen it I think you should and I apologize for ruining the ending for you. When the Best Picture nominees were announced I just knew that this movie would win and it did!!!!
2008- No Country for Old Men
I don't remember if I watched this at the theaters or at home but I do remember that I watched it with my parents. It was an ok movie. It's one that I won't be watching again. It's been a while since I have seen it so I don't remember exactly what it is about but I do remember that bad guy was creepy. He is the guy in the middle on the poster. If you don't think he looks creepy then something is wrong with you. I think I even had nightmares after that movie, not because of the violence but because of the creepy bad guy. I looked back at who the other nominees were and I feel like none of them were Oscar worthy winners including the winner. Oh well I can't do anything about that. I have to admit I would love to be part of the group who decides who wins the Oscar for Best Picture.
Coming Attractions: Winners of 2007 and 2006.
