1998 and 1997 Best Picture winners are...

Before I start this blog I want to make a comment about a previous post of mine. One of my older posts I wrote how when you get older the less cute/handsome you become. There are a few people who I think are still cute/handsome for being quite old. The first one is Paul Newman. Yes I do know that he has died but he was a GOOD looking man when he past away. If he was a few years younger and a member of the church I would so marry him. Another person that I think is still handsome even though they are quite old is Christopher Plummer. He is 82 years old and I think he is still handsome. I remember having a crush on him when he was in The Sound of Music. The scene where he and Maria dance together I would pretend that he was dancing with me and I would blush because he was so handsome.

1998- Titanic

I LOVE, LOVE this movie. Most people don't care for this movie but I still watch it. I also LOVE the song that Celine Dion sang for this film. Again most people are sick and tired and can't stand this song. I can listen to it over and over and not get tired of it. I remember watching this film in the theater with my dad. We went on a daddy/daughter date to this movie. I really wanted to see it but no one else wanted to so my loving dad took me. On a side note we did a lot of daddy/daughter dates to chick flicks cause either none of my friends could go with me to see it or no one wanted to see the movie. My dad was great sport for doing it and I love him for that. Any way, It was great film and I still think it's a great film. The only thing that was awkward about watching this film with my dad was the scene where Jack draws the picture of Rose and you see the breasts of Rose. I believe that this is the film that I fell in love with Leonardo DiCaprio. I also had no idea that Kate Winslet was British when the film came out. She did a great job of doing the American accent. I truly believe that the people who pick the winner got this one right. I don't think any of the other nominees were worthy to win the Best Picture. You are more than welcome to disagree with me if you think other wise.

1997- The English Patient

I would be perfectly happy if I could go back in time and NOT watch this movie. It was interesting in a few places but over all I was so bored watching it. It is about 3 hours long and after I watched it I wanted my 3 hours back so that I could do something more interesting.

The film is around the end of World War II and a nurse takes care of a man who is badly burned from a plane crash. His past is shown in flashbacks revealing an involvement in a love affair. Ralph Fiennes plays the badly burned character and the first time I saw the character in his burned state I kept thinking that he looks like someone that I have seen in a movie. It took a while before I realized that he kind of looked like Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes is the actor who plays Lord Voldemort). I could not concentrate for the rest of the movie when they would show him as his burned character cause all I could think of was Lord Voldemort.

I remember watching it and thinking that it would be maybe have way over but sadly when I looked it had only been going for 30 minutes. It was a VERY long and boring film. I would not recommend this film to watch. I have no plans of ever watching this film again.
