Before I start this I just want to ask who is excited for Titanic 3D coming out April 4th? I am. If Titanic was that good without being 3D just think how much more awesome it will be in 3D. I'm so excite. Feel free to make fun of me but I don't care!
1992- The Silence of the Lambs
I watched this movie with my dad. There is no way I would watch it by myself because it CREEPS me out. Anthony Hopkins won the Academy Award for Best Actor for this movie and I understand why. He did an amazing job of playing a cannibalistic serial killer. There is a scene that creeps me out so much and it's when Clarice is talking to Hannibal Lector and does this weird snake like hiss thing. You would think other scenes would give me the creeps and they do but that scene just really creeps me out. It was a fine movie and will I watch it again probably not unless I am home and my dad is watching it. Nothing better than watching a creepy movie with your dad. For me this movie and any other creepy/ scary movies ends up being less scary when I watch them with my dad.
I believe this movie should not have won. For heavens sake Beauty and the Beast was nominated for best picture. Who in their right mind would pick The Silence of the Lambs to win and not Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast is a sweet non creepy/scary movie that I absolutely love. It is my favorite movie. Apparently the academy doesn't like a sweet, funny, loving story with awesome music and the best characters ever. I think they need their heads examined. If you had to choose who would you vote for? A Disney movie or a movie about a psychotic, cannibalistic man. I'm just asking. At least Beauty and the Beast won Best Original Score and Best Original Song. If that movie lost those awards then people need to re-count. Like I said before I love Beauty and the Beast and I am quite upset that it lost to The Silence of the Lambs. There isn't anything I can do about it since I can't go back in time to the award show and make sure Beauty and the Beast won Best Picture. Where is Doc and Marty McFly when you really need them? Oh well.
1991- Dances with Wolves
I really enjoyed this movie. Kevin Costner directed this movie and it was his first time directing and I thought he did an excellent job. There is a scene where Kevin Costner is swimming in a pond/lake and he gets out and you see his bare bum. If I was watching this movie with my dad he would give me this certain look and tell me that he now knows why I liked the movie. This a joke between my dad and I. According to my dad the only reason why I really like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is the scene where he is swimming and gets out and you see his bare bum. I wonder how many of his movies you see his bare bum. If there are more then I need to find them and watch them :) Love you dad even with the teasing :)
After watching the movie I now know what the title of the movie means. When I was younger I remember hearing about this movie but I guess I never listened to what it was about. To be honest I thought it was something about dancing with wolves. Yes feel free to laugh. It is embarrassing to admit that. After watching the movie I learned it had NOTHING to do with dancing with wolves. Kevin Costner's character becomes friends and eventually becomes a member of a Native American tribe and they gave him a Native American name which was Dances with Wolves. The reason they chose that name was that there was a wolf that followed him around and they kind of became friends.
There are some people out there that believe that this movie should not have won Best Picture. I don't know why people wanted this movie to lose because I thought it was a very good movie. The other nominees were Awakenings, Ghost, The Godfather Part III and Goodfellows. Really people, you wanted one of these movies to win? I believe the academy chose the right movie to win. Lets be honest here people was Godfather Part III really that good to have won the award instead of Dances with Wolves? I honestly believe the first two Godfather movies shouldn't have won the Academy Award. If you disagree with me on that please do explain what made those movies so great to have won the award.
Coming Attractions: 1990 and 1989 Best Picture winners
